[Damn it, Yusei. Why the hell is that guy keeping Shulk in the dark about this? Shulk's not going to understand how much he's hurting him if he doesn't know why. Crow stays silent for a moment, arms resting on his knees, mulling over how to begin this story.]

This story starts when Yusei, Jack and me were in our mid teens. That was when we left our foster home and struck out on our own. I guess we thought being independent meant we could be different from everyone else in Satellite. That we could change things.

[It had felt so long ago when they stepped from the doorway of Martha's, their few belongings in tow.]

But Satellite was bigger than us. It'd take more than three teenagers who were kinda full of themselves to change it. There was nothing we could do. Nothing that was meaningful, or anywhere near possible. We were teens with too much energy but nowhere to direct it, trapped on an island with no future. We would've been crushed by Satellite like everyone else... if Kiryu hadn't found us.

[Crow closes his eyes, remembering the Kiryu who had approached them, open and eager, excited at their potential. How different he is, now. Opening his eyes, Crow leans his elbows on his knees and threads his fingers between each other.]

Kiryu was... he was our guiding light. Kiryu was a spark, a burning fire that survived the oppressiveness of Satellite. And we were attracted to it like moths to a flame.

Kiryu had an idea, a goal: to form a Dueling gang with us and crush all the other Dueling gangs until Satellite was ours. We couldn't say no; all three of us... Jack, Yusei, me... we love a good challenge. Kiryu's goal gave us direction and reasons to hone our skills. A way to rise up above the trash. We called ourselves Team Satisfaction, because we wouldn't be satisfied until we completely dominated Satellite.

With Kiryu leading us, we were unstoppable. [Crow lets out a quiet laugh, mouth twisted into a wry smile.] Thinking back on it, it's kinda sad how fast we beat all the other Dueling gangs. It didn't take us long to become the kings of the junkyard. We just couldn't be beaten.

So... what do you think happens next?
